I am willing to do whatever it takes to educate all of my students. I think that in order to educate all children it is very important to first get to know them and learn their strengths. Last week we learned about how every person learns differently and this has really stuck with me. I know that when I am a teacher I will encounter many different kinds of learners and it is very important to me to be able to incorporate things into my classroom that will help each student learn. If a student doesn't understand something, then I will find another way to explain it to them or find a new activity that will help them understand. I will not give up on a student because they do not understand something right away. If a student is struggling, I will give them every resource I can to help. I am also willing to change lessons if needed. If I see that the entire class is struggling or not engaged in the lesson, then I am willing to change my original plan to best suit their needs. I also want to individually get to know my students for who they are. I want to learn their interests and personality so that I can teach them in the best way that I can. I always want to be there for my students no matter what and do whatever I need to in order to help them grow, learn, and be successful.

Individually knowing your students is a great way to connect to them and see in what way they learn! Although depending on the school you do work in there might be a lot of students you have in total, how would you plan to meet and learn your students on a personal basis? I find that name plates or something akin to this is a big help till you get their names down , also greeting them in the morning outside of your classroom is a good way to get to know them if even by a little before the lesson starts. If find being flexible with the lesson and providing multiple resources is the best way to make sure your students are reaching the material. In my high school our economics teacher had a Youtube channel that he would post topics and content week by week so if you missed notes or class you could refer to the videos.
ReplyDeleteHi Michael!
DeleteI love both of those ideas for getting to know your students! I definitely want to have them make a nameplate on the first day and have them add images to it that describe who they are. I also love the idea of morning greetings where I greet them all individually at the door with either a high five or a hug. I also just want to pay attention to what works and what does not work for them throughout the year, as well as what interests them. This way, I can incorporate some of their interests into activities!
